ROHRBAUGH MAKES IT FOUR STRAIGHT IN TRAIL-WAY “358” SPRINTS;

Hanover, PA (6/27/08) – It was a June sweep for Jeff Rohrbaugh at Trail-Way Speedway.

The Roy Vincent Racing #7V came from 11th starting spot to claim his fourth straight win at the McSherrystown oval. And for the second week in-a-row, Rohrbaugh also claimed the DS Diversified Services hard charger award in the process.

And he did it on seven cylinders.

“I think we knocked a plug wire off,” explained Rohrbaugh upon exiting his L&R Auto Body/Donnie Beard Racing Engines/Delco Signs sprinter in victory lane, “Maybe it helped tonight, but I’d sooner have eight.”

Points handicapping placed Rohrbaugh 11th for the start.

Outside polesitter Randy Davis, Jr. grabbed the lead at the start and led the first 11 non-stop laps before he spun into the infield to avoid the lapped car of Billy Heltzel III, who was slow coming off turn two. Also collected in the spin was third-place Tim Wagaman.

Assuming the lead for the restart was Randy Whisler, who paced the field on lap 12 as Rohrbaugh was storming from fifth place to the runner-up spot in one lap. Among the cars Rohrbaugh passed on lap 12 were Dale Hammaker, Brad McClelland, and then Billy Dietrich.

Rohrbaugh made quick work of Whisler to grab the lead on lap 13, and led the rest of the way to his 15th career Trail-Way win, moving him into a tie with McClelland for first on the all-time Trail-Way win list.

Two laps later, third-place Billy Dietrich brought out the caution after striking the outside wall on turn two and coming to a stop. On the 16th-lap restart, McClelland drove under Whisler for second and chased Rohrbaugh the rest of the way. McClelland got one final shot at the leader when Billy Heltzel, Jr. brought out the caution after stopping in turn four. But Rohrbaugh stayed in command, crossing .97-seconds in front of McClelland, with Hammaker finishing third, Whisler fourth, and 13th-starting Joe Trone, Jr. completing the top five.

Sixth through tenth were Danny Dietrich, Steve Owings, Dan Dietrich (racing for the first time in 2008), Mike Duncan, and Colt White.

“I was lucky to get to the front first,” said Rohrbaugh, “There were 20 cars here tonight, and 20 cars can win here on any week. I think we’ll take tomorrow night off.”

Heats for the “358” sprinters were won by Whisler and Heltzel, Jr.
