McCLELLAND NOW ALL-TIME 358 SPRINT WINNER

Hanover, PA (5/23/08) - It's official, Westminster's Brad McClelland
is on a roll.
Eighth-starting McClelland nipped race-leader Billy Dietrich at the
start/finish line just as the caution waved on the 18th lap to grab the lead
and then held off Dietrich and 19th-starting Jeff Rohrbaugh in a one-lap
shoot-out to earn his third win in-a-row in the 25-lap 358 Sprint feature
Friday night at Trail-Way Speedway.
It was McClelland's 13th career win at Trail-Way, moving him past
Billy Dietrich to the top of the McSherrystown oval's all-time 358 sprint
win list.
"It'll get harder here as soon as we get moved back," said
McClelland upon exiting his B&D Truck Hoist #6, "When Jeff (Rohrbaugh) gets
out of the consis I'm sure he's going to be hard to get around once he
starts up front. He had a lot of cars to pass there and go the
hard-charger. He looked good in the consi but had trouble in the heat
race."
"That lapped traffic there was in my favor," added McClelland, "You
don't know where to go, and I stuck it out on the outside. The car was
pretty hooked up tonight. I better take these wins while I can. It's gonna
get harder."
Polesitter Tim Wagaman led the first seven laps from the pole before
sixth-starting Billy Dietrich grabbed the lead in lapped traffic on the
backstretch of lap eight. Dietrich then showed the way before McClelland
caught him at the line just before the 18th-lap caution.
McClelland survived two more cautions and a last-lap red for a
flipping Brandon Turner into the infield in turn one before going on to win
his third race in four events at Trail-Way.
Dietrich and DS Diversified Services hard-charger Jeff Rohrbaugh
settled for second and third, with Dale Hammaker and Wagaman completing the
top five. Hammaker's fourth-place finish broke a three-way tie at the top
of the season-long Hoosier Tire point standings.
Sixth through tenth were Steve Owings (now second in points), Joe
Trone, Jr., Ron Kramer, Randy Whisler, and Randy Davis, Jr.
Heats for the 25 "358" sprinters on hand were won by Wagaman,
Whisler and Danny Dietrich, with Rohrbaugh winning the consolation.
